Welcome to Gawdy Hall Estates Ltd

Gawdy Hall Estates Ltd

In the heart of the Waveney Valley in south Norfolk lies the Gawdy Hall Estate, extending to 800 hectares of mixed farmland near the historic market town of Harleston.

The Estate owns and maintains 13 properties, and modern farming operations are conducted 'in hand' - wheat, oilseed rape and beans being the major crops. A beautiful walled garden lies in the heart of the Estate, originally producing fruits, vegetables and flowers for the families of Gawdy Hall and next to the garden is a magnificent lake which is playing an important role in wildlife conservation.

There are 50 hectares of woodland on the Estate, including the 32 hectare Gawdy Big Wood which is an Ancient Woodland Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI). The site of a moated Abbey located on the edge of the Gawdy Big Wood is currently being investigated by the historical department of the University of East Anglia.
